Sofia Valenzuela（巴伦苏埃拉˙索菲亚），博士，现任康塞普西翁恒峰体育林学院教授，1991年获得智利恒峰体育硕士学位；2000年获得德国布伦瑞克恒峰体育博士学位。被当地政府和智利国家科学局授予杰出科学女性奖，先后参与研发课题10余项，发表科学论文50余篇。主要研究方向：林木基因组学。
报告内容简介：
Chile is a country rich in natural resources, being main exprter of copper, salmon, wine, fruits and pulp for paper. Forestry is the second economy income of the country, representing the 2.6% of the GDP. Currently Chile has 2.4 million ha of forest plantations and 12 million ha of native forests. Among forest plantations, we have mainly radiate pine (70%) and eucalypts (30%). Both species have been used by the two main forest companies (Aruaco and CMPC) for at least 50 years and they have been going through a quite intensive forest genetic improvement program, having nowadays clonal plantations, with the best genotypes. In order to do this, we work together with the forest companies, to aid this improvement by using biotechnological tools, that help understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the phenotype of the best trees.
